The scan has unfortunately killed the brightness and the shadows and subtleties, it is unfortunately much more blurred. And yet you see the composition of the picture of the different scans ...

Okay, one of my most favourite cars of all time, I really can't applaud you enough for trying such a difficult machine - the original 1961 E-Types were praised the world over for being incredibly sensual and even today are widely regarded as the world's most beautiful car. There isn't a single surface on the body of this car that isn't curved (even the floor underneath), so you've set yourself up for a hard job straight away.

The first thing I've noted is just how faithful to the original image you are - it's a very popular stock image of an E-Type, and has been done a few times on dA, especially by vector artists. You're the first one I've seen with graphite though, so I gave you some points for vision and originality. the fact that you haven't really ventured away from the original photo leaves it a little lacking in these departments. With such an iconic car however, I guess it comes down to originality being everything, but a leaping cat emblem in the background or something extra would have been great.

Your technique is wonderful - I've watched you progress over the last couple of years and you're now a serious graphite artist worthy of the best here at dA. So few people even attempt wire wheels and fewer still get them looking any good - yours are damn near spot on! Now I'm just going on the poor quality of your scan, a detail shot would be excellent, but in terms of technique, you've really pulled this off nicely. An easy four stars, but I did subtract a point as the front bonnet bulge is too large and adds a bit of too much weight to what is otherwise a very sleek, svelte shape. The bonnet vents just infront of the the drivers side windsheild are angled a fraction wrong, but this is getting really minute.

The angle of your rear wheel also seems to be a fraction off, it looks like it has a lot of positive camber and I also think the rim size, particularly the front, is a wee bit too small. Rim sizes are exceptionally important because they either make or break the car. A 15" wire spoke wheel can easily look 14" if you miss the perfect rim size on your image by a few millimeters.

I think overall this is a superb piece, it's an instant favourite from me, you have to be a reall anorak to pick out any flaws. Your standout is undoubtely the chrome, especially aorund the front and the headlights -masterful stuff. The screws, the indicator lenses, even the number-plate... these small touches mean a lot and could have easily been left out for the sake of speed, but you've spent time on the them and it shows. I also love the amount of detail you've put into the cabin, few artists bother with such and it can be really painstaking stuff.

You've taken top cake for a Jaguar graphite and you've set the bar for everyone else. 5/5 stars for effort girl!
